44 Young People Receive Vocational Skills Training in Kroo Bay

Forty-four young people from slum and dumpsite communities in Freetown have been trained and certified in various vocational and professional skills.

The training was organised by Make Impact Sierra Leone in partnership with We Yone Child Foundation and took place at the We Yone Child Foundation Skills Training Centre in Kroo Bay.

The six month programme trained young men and women in catering, cosmetology and hairdressing, and professional driving.

The initiative is aimed at helping young people develop practical skills that can enable them to earn a living, become self-reliant and create better opportunities for themselves.

The first group of trainees received their certificates during a certification ceremony held on Saturday, following the successful completion of the six-month training programme.

The organisers say the programme is part of their effort to support young people in vulnerable communities by giving them skills that can improve their livelihoods.
