21-Year-Old Remanded for Attempted Murder and Assault in Freetown

A 21-year-old man has been remanded in custody after being arraigned on charges of attempted murder and assault related to a stabbing incident in Freetown.


The accused, Ibrahim Fofanah, an unemployed resident, made his first court appearance on Thursday, 16 October 2025, before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2.


Fofanah faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, wounding with intent to murder, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm all contrary to law.


According to the charge sheet, the incident allegedly occurred on Sunday, 7 September 2025, at New Life City off Wilkinson Road in the Western Area of Freetown. Fofanah is accused of attempting to murder Vivat Rogers by inflicting knife injuries to her neck, hands, and the left side of her face.


He also allegedly wounded Ms. Rogers with the intent to kill and caused her grievous bodily harm. Additionally, he is accused of assaulting her in a manner that resulted in actual bodily harm.


When the charges were read and explained, Fofanah did not enter a plea.


Prosecutor Sergeant Florence M. Wilson informed the court that the defendant had been served with the relevant legal documents and noted that he was unrepresented.


Magistrate Fornah denied bail and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.


The case was adjourned to 20 October 2025 for further proceedings.
