Hassan Fornah, 27, has been remanded in custody by Magistrate Sahr Kekura on charges of robbery with aggravation.

The charges arise from an incident on January 8, 2025, at First Street, Kissy, Freetown, where Fornah allegedly conspired with others to commit robbery. He is accused of assaulting Osman Kamara with a knife and robbing him of a black backpack, an iPhone 16 Pro Max, a Samsung A-30, a Samsung 24 Ultra, and five hundred Leones in cash, with a total value of twenty thousand nine hundred Leones.

During the proceedings, Kamara, an online businessman, testified that he was contacted by an unknown individual regarding the sale of mobile phones. After negotiating prices, he was instructed to deliver the phones to a location where he was met by the accused. Fornah allegedly led Kamara to a building and threatened him with a knife. Kamara reported that he surrendered his belongings out of fear.

Kamara further recounted calling for help and noticing Fornah, who was inquiring about the supposed thief while in possession of Kamara's stolen bag.

Following the incident, the police were called and apprehended Fornah. He was taken to the Kissy police station, where a statement was given, and a medical report was issued. The medical report was submitted to the court.

Prosecutor Inspector M.K. Taylor requested a brief adjournment to allow for additional witness testimony.

Magistrate Kekura denied bail to Fornah and ordered his remand at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.

The case has been adjourned to February 6, 2025, for further hearing.
