The High Court in Kenema, presided over by Justice Abdul Sheriff, on January 20, 2026, convicted four defendants on charges of possession and use of prohibited drugs, a violation of Section 8(a) of the National Drugs Control Act, No. 10 of 2008. The defendants were collectively sentenced to a total of twenty-seven years imprisonment.
The convicted individuals are Mohamed Koroma (27, of 4 Maxwell-Khobe Street, Kenema City), Musa Sannoh (30, of 13 Kpasamoi Street, Kenema City), Tamba Nyuma (34, of the same address), and Keifala Kamara (25, residing at 12 Mariama Street, Kenema City).
State Counsel, Andrew F. Kamara, presented the evidence. Mohamed Koroma was found in possession of 57 wraps of suspected kush on November 6, 2025, in Kenema City. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to seven years imprisonment at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre (SLCC) in Kenema. Musa Sannoh, found with 31 wraps of suspected kush on December 3, 2025, also pleaded guilty and received a seven-year sentence. Tamba Nyuma was apprehended on December 1, 2025, with 26 wraps of suspected kush. Keifala Kamara was found with the same suspected substance on November 6, 2025, in Kenema City. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six years imprisonment at the SLCC in Kenema.
In delivering the judgement, Justice Sheriff took into consideration the guilty pleas of the convicts and the pleas in mitigation presented by Defence Counsel Patrick Kamara of the Legal Aid Board. His Lordship found the four defendants guilty and convicted them, handing down individual custodial sentences. The Court further ordered the public destruction of the seized substances.
