29 Sierra Leonean Migrants Arrested Crossing Into Liberia

Twenty-nine migrants originating from Northern Sierra Leone were arrested overnight by local community members after unlawfully crossing the border into Liberia.
According to local sources, the individuals crossed the Mano River near Bo Waterside using a local boat late last night without required authorization. Reports indicate the group was traveling together to pursue mining opportunities within Liberia.
Following their apprehension by community residents, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Liberia, Eddie S. Mansally, convened an emergency stakeholder meeting early this morning in Jendema to address the situation.
The 29 migrants are currently being held at the Jendema Police Station while authorities conduct a full investigation into the incident. The specific identities and towns of origin for the migrants remain unconfirmed at this time.
The arrests have heightened concerns regarding border monitoring and irregular migration along the Sierra Leone–Liberia frontier.
Further updates will be provided as official details emerge.
