69 SLPHA Security Personnel Begin Professional Training at SILEA

Sixty-nine security personnel of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) have commenced a two-week professional training programme at the Sierra Leone Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy (SILEA 1) Campus in Hastings.

The training is designed to strengthen the personnel’s discipline, professional competence, operational readiness and security awareness, while improving their capacity to safeguard port infrastructure, personnel and assets.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, SLPHA Director of Human Resources, Alhassan George, urged the trainees to take the programme seriously and conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the values and standards of the Authority.

The training marks the second batch of SLPHA security personnel to undergo professional training at SILEA and forms part of Management’s efforts to develop staff capacity and strengthen security at the country’s ports.

The programme combines classroom instruction with practical exercises covering areas including contemporary security operations, discipline, professional conduct and operational effectiveness.

The training is expected to enhance the capacity of SLPHA security personnel and contribute to efforts to strengthen security and protect Sierra Leone’s ports and harbour facilities.
