79 Coaches Apply for Leone Stars Job as SLFA Begins Review Process

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced that it has officially closed the application process for the position of Head Coach of the national men’s football team, Leone Stars, with a total of 79 applications received.
According to a press release issued by the Association, the deadline for submissions ended on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Out of the total applications received, three were from local coaches, while 76 came from foreign candidates, reflecting significant international interest in the role.
The SLFA stated that its Technical Committee, in collaboration with the Technical Department, has commenced the evaluation of all submitted applications. The review process is expected to identify a shortlist of qualified candidates who will proceed to the next stage, which includes formal interviews.
The Association reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and merit-based selection process aimed at securing a highly competent coach for the national team.
The recruitment exercise is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the technical leadership of Leone Stars as the country continues to rebuild and improve its competitive performance on the international stage.
The Sierra Leone Football Association emphasized that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted as the process moves into its next phase.
