ACC Indicts WAEC Examiner and Student Over Exam Scripts

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has indicted a WAEC examiner and a student over alleged corruption linked to the May 2026 National Primary School Examination (NPSE).
The accused are Ibrahim Sorie Kamara, a teacher at Sierra Leone Muslim Brotherhood Primary School and a West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examiner, and Mohamed Musa Koroma, a student at Freetown Polytechnic, Jui Campus.
According to the ACC, the alleged offences took place between May and July 2026 in Freetown, connected to the marking of the NPSE English Paper II examination scripts.
The Commission alleges that Kamara unlawfully transferred four envelopes of scripts to Koroma, who was unauthorized to hold them. Koroma was later apprehended in Waterloo with three red envelopes containing examination scripts, after claiming to Rashidatu Lois Bangura that he could adjust candidates' answers.
Both face three corruption counts, including separate charges for academic malpractice under Section 128(3) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 12 of 2008 (as amended in 2019) and a joint charge for conspiracy under Section 128(1).
Reaffirming its commitment, the ACC stated it remains dedicated to safeguarding the integrity and credibility of public examinations and curbing academic malpractice in Sierra Leone.
