AIG Kanneh Inspects Sites for Proposed Police Facilities

Seeking to enhance security coverage in the rapidly growing Waterloo community, Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Brima Kanneh, Commander for the Freetown-East Region, led a high-level inspection of three proposed site locations on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
Accompanied by a delegation of senior police officers, AIG Kanneh evaluated potential properties within the Waterloo Division to determine their suitability for a new primary police station and additional police posts.
The team first visited Campbell Town, where they inspected the former Virtues Cottage recreational compound—currently under consideration for lease to the Sierra Leone Police as a main station.
Additionally, the delegation assessed a separate plot of land donated by the Campbell Town community for constructing a dedicated police post.
Following a stop at the Newton Police Post, officials proceeded to Agriculture Land at Six Mile. There, Estate Officer Abdul Karim Kamara presented an existing building for evaluation as a potential police post.
If approved, the Six Mile facility is expected to bolster police presence in Agriculture Land, Mogbafti, Kpoubu, and Kattu Town, while alleviating operational pressure on existing regional stations.
During the tour, the delegation also addressed operational concerns, particularly regarding ration allocations for Operational Support Division (OSD) personnel stationed at Waterloo Prisons compared to their military counterparts.
Concluding the exercise, AIG Kanneh commended the team and confirmed he will submit a detailed report and recommendations to the Inspector-General of Police for executive decision-making.
Final decisions regarding the establishment and funding of the proposed facilities remain pending the outcome of the police leadership's review.
