Almon Sall, representing Sierra Leone, has delivered his first statement following his historic win at the Mister Africa International 2025 competition, which took place in Lagos, Nigeria, on Friday, November 7.
In a live address, Sall provided insight into his journey, from his arrival in Nigeria to the grand finale. He disclosed that his dedication to representing Sierra Leone with distinction led to considerable sacrifice, including periods of restricted sleep and appetite, driven by determination rather than anxiety.
Sall recounted a moment of high pressure during the competition when his national costume suffered a malfunction on stage. He demonstrated composure by quickly adjusting the attire to obscure the damage from both the judging panel and the audience. Reflecting on the incident, he stated, “My immediate concern was the reaction in Sierra Leone should such a mishap be visible on stage. I felt it was preferable to face criticism at home than to experience public failure in another nation.”
He also addressed the pivotal final question posed to the top three contestants: How can Mister Africa serve as an inspiration to the continent’s youth? His winning response underscored the importance of self-belief and optimism, asserting, “A prosperous future begins with individual positive action.” He noted that a lack of positivity often leads young people astray, contributing to serious societal issues such as substance abuse and academic attrition.
Sall concluded his address by extending his profound gratitude to the people of Sierra Leone for their steadfast encouragement throughout his campaign. He also commended the Mister Africa International organizers for establishing a meaningful platform dedicated to the empowerment and positive transformation of young men.
The 13th edition of the Mister Africa International pageant hosted contestants from across Africa. Almon Sall's exceptional charisma and self-assurance distinguished him, ultimately securing the title for Sierra Leone.
His victory has been met with widespread national acclaim, heralded as a source of national pride and a clear indication of Sierra Leone’s increasing prominence within the global creative and cultural landscape.
