Five Defendants Committed to High Court For Robbery, Drug Possession And Assault

The Principal Magistrate of Magistrate Court No. 1 in Kenema, His Worship Magistrate Hadiru Daboh, has committed five defendants—Sidi Yayah Fofanah (alias wiji), Francis Kaindaneh, Madieu Sesay, Mohamed Mansaray, and Alfred Goba—to stand trial before the High Court of Sierra Leone for committing various offences contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
Case Details:
Sidi Yayah Fofanah: On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Tongo Police Station, Tongo-field, Lower Bambara Chiefdom, Kenema District, Mr. Fofanah was allegedly found in possession of five wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis sativa. On the same date and at the same location, he was allegedly found in possession of Class A Drugs (250 mg tramadol) without lawful authority.
Francis Kaindaneh: On Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Ngombu Layout in Kenema City, Mr. Kaindaneh is alleged to have broken and entered into a classroom of Salamy Memorial Secondary School with intent to steal, and subsequently stole nine iron chairs, each valued at Three Hundred New Leones (NLe 300.00), totaling Two Thousand, Seven Hundred New Leones (NLe 2,700.00). These items were the property of Bockarie Nomolie Salamy and were in the custody of Mathew Junior Fatorma. Furthermore, on the aforementioned date and place, he is alleged to have maliciously wounded Yeama Caulker and assaulted her, thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.
Madieu Sesay: On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Konia village, Lower Bambara Chiefdom, Kenema District, Mr. Sesay is alleged to have wounded Bobor Patrick with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm and also assaulted him, thereby occasioning actual bodily harm.
Alfred Goba and Mohamed Mansaray: Mr. Goba of Bockarie-gbay Street and Mr. Mansaray of Dasama Street, both of Kenema City, are alleged to have conspired with unknown individuals to commit a felony, specifically Store Breaking and Larceny, on Friday, September 26, 2025, at No. 75 Blama Road in Kenema. On the aforementioned date and venue, the two defendants allegedly broke and entered the store of Kakpama Dauda Sandi and stole one planning machine valued at One Hundred and Seventy Thousand New Leones (NLe 170,000.00), property of the said Kakpama Dauda Sandi.
Magistrate's Ruling:
Following the presentation of the prosecution's evidence in its entirety, Magistrate Hadiru Daboh ruled that the prosecution had established sufficient evidence to warrant a trial. Consequently, all five defendants were committed to stand trial at the High Court of Sierra Leone.
The matters were prosecuted by Inspector Alphan Samuel Musa and PC 15361 Vonja Thomas, both attached to the Legal and Justice Support Department within the Kenema Police Division.
