Senior All People’s Congress (APC) figure Ibrahim Ben Kargbo disclosed that the party had extended an invitation via letter to former presidential candidate Samura Kamara for a meeting intended to strengthen internal unity ahead of the 2028 elections.
Speaking on ECKO Media, Ben Kargbo affirmed the party's commitment to dialogue and reconciliation, especially with members associated with the Electoral Justice movement.
He stated that a letter had been sent to Dr. Samura Kamara regarding the "Electoral Justice and the Agenda 2028," emphasizing that the party did not want to appear unprepared for peace. Ben Kargbo further indicated that the APC had already engaged in discussions with supporters of the Electoral Justice movement and exchanged several letters with Kamara.
The Senior APC figure expressed confidence that Kamara had responded to previous correspondence and that both sides remained aligned in their objectives, stating they were "on the same track". He added that the APC planned to unite all factions to resolve internal differences before the upcoming general elections.
Ben Kargbo stressed the critical importance of party unity, issuing a stern warning that the APC could not sustain another electoral defeat, implying that such an outcome would signify the "end of the party". He acknowledged that the party had committed errors during the 2023 elections but maintained that corrective efforts were currently in progress ahead of the next polls.
Finally, Ben Kargbo characterized Samura Kamara as "a very important component of the party" and urged him and his supporters to cooperate with the APC leadership as they prepare for the party’s objective of returning to State House in 2028.
