Sierra Leone’s main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban, has pledged to provide free transportation for all citizens during the first two months of operation when his new buses arrive in the country.
In a statement, Jagaban said:
"When my new buses arrive, they will operate free of charge for the first two months. No one will pay a single cent to travel anywhere in the country. I am providing free transportation for everyone, everywhere."
The announcement has generated reactions from the public, with supporters praising his commitment to reducing transport costs for citizens.
While the exact timeline for the arrival of the buses and full operational details are yet to be revealed, many view the pledge as an effort to address nationwide mobility challenges, particularly as transport fares continue to affect daily economic activities.
Jagaban, known for his grassroots support, has not specified whether the initiative will start in certain regions or be implemented nationwide, but his statement “for everyone, everywhere” suggests full country coverage.
As the political atmosphere intensifies ahead of the next election, the free transportation promise stands out as one of the notable pledges made by a presidential aspirant.
