APC Opposition Leader Abdul Kargbo Boycotts Parliament Over Detention of Party Secretary General

The All People’s Congress (APC) Opposition Leader in Parliament, Abdul Kargbo, was absent from today’s parliamentary sitting, citing concerns over the continued detention of the party’s National Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya.

According to a report by Liberty Online TV, Kargbo’s absence was in protest against what he reportedly described as the unjust handling of Dumbuya’s case, particularly following the disruption of the Secretary General’s second court appearance.

The opposition leader is said to have expressed concerns that the developments surrounding the matter raise serious questions about due process and the impartiality of state institutions in politically sensitive cases.

Kargbo’s action comes amid growing calls within the APC for constitutional rights and the rule of law to be upheld in the treatment of opposition members. His boycott has attracted attention within parliamentary and political circles, underscoring the heightened tensions surrounding Dumbuya’s detention.

The case continues to draw public interest as it proceeds through the judicial system.
