The Publicity Secretary of the All People’s Congress (APC), Sidi Yayah Tunis, has formally accused law enforcement and security agencies of exhibiting a clear bias in their treatment of the APC compared to the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) concerning political statements.
During an online media interview, Tunis highlighted that certain SLPP members, including Moses Mambu, have made potentially inflammatory remarks without facing any repercussions. He contended that had he or any APC member made a similar statement to the one recently attributed to the SLPP’s new National Chairman, Jimmy Batilo Songa, they would have been immediately summoned by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Tunis cited previous incidents involving the APC, such as the police and military raid on the party's office—an action that resulted in the arrest of the matron and others—as evidence of state institutions applying disparate standards when engaging with the APC.
He further noted the lack of any official response from the police or the Office of National Security (ONS) regarding Songa’s comments, suggesting this inaction aligns with a pattern of selective enforcement observed by the APC.
Tunis concluded by asserting that while the APC remains committed to peaceful political engagement, the party will not tolerate electoral malfeasance in future polls. He affirmed that the APC has no intention of destabilizing the country but will refuse to accept any unverified results, referencing his belief that this occurred during the 2023 elections.
