Aquatics Team Arrives in Glasgow for 2026 Commonwealth Games

The Sierra Leone Aquatics team has arrived safely in Glasgow ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games. The delegation, led by President Mohamed Abdul Turay, is preparing to compete on one of the world’s premier multi-sport stages.
The squad includes swimmers Moses Sahr Yongai, Ibrahim Kamara, and John Alimamy Samura, accompanied by Head Coach Gibrilla Kanu Bamba. The team was further bolstered in Glasgow by the arrival of Olympian Elizabeth Olamiday Sam (OLY) from Thailand and Halle Harris from London.
Preparations began immediately upon arrival with an initial training session. Head Coach Bamba emphasized the importance of discipline and focus, urging the athletes to represent their nation with pride and determination during the upcoming competition.
In a leadership move, Elizabeth Olamiday Sam (OLY) has been named Team Captain. Her appointment highlights her extensive international experience and her role in guiding the younger athletes throughout the Games.
The Sierra Leone Aquatics federation expressed full confidence in the team's readiness. As the athletes prepare to showcase their talents, the federation extended its best wishes to the squad as they aim to fly the national colors high in Glasgow.
