Basketball Federation, NSA Strengthen Partnership to Boost Sport Development

The leadership of the Sierra Leone Basketball Federation has engaged the National Sports Authority (NSA) in a bid to strengthen collaboration and promote the development of basketball across the country.
The Federation’s delegation, led by President Alie Hajasi, paid a courtesy visit to NSA Executive Director Mohamed Alphaka Conteh Esq. on Wednesday, 8th July 2026, where both institutions discussed ways to advance the growth of the sport.
Speaking during the meeting, Hajasi thanked the NSA leadership for receiving the delegation and reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to working closely with the Authority to expand basketball nationwide.
He highlighted the Federation’s recent achievements, including the successful organization of national competitions, increased grassroots and youth participation, capacity-building programmes for coaches and referees, promotion of women’s basketball, and continued involvement in regional and international basketball activities.
also outlined the Federation’s plans to further develop the sport through increased school and community programmes, improved infrastructure, and greater participation in international competitions.
Responding, NSA Executive Director Mohamed Alphaka Conteh Esq. commended the Basketball Federation for its efforts in promoting the sport and assured the delegation of the Authority’s continued support.
Conteh emphasized the importance of collaboration between the NSA and national sports federations in achieving sporting excellence and creating more opportunities for athletes across Sierra Leone.
The meeting ended with both parties reaffirming their commitment to working together to strengthen basketball development and contribute to the broader growth of sports in the country.
