Prosecutors allege that in May 2025, near Wilberforce in Freetown, Jalloh swindled Francis Michael out of NLe 5,000, falsely claiming to have a single-bedroom and parlor apartment available for rent, a claim he allegedly knew to be untrue.
The 25-year-old motorcycle rider Mohamed Jalloh hangs precariously could face a long jail term if found guilty of impersonating a landlord and fraudulently obtaining money.
Similarly, Jalloh is also accused of defrauding Gbessay Lamin of NLe 2,000 by falsely offering a single room for rent, a claim also alleged to be false.
During the formal reading of the charges, Jalloh, who was unrepresented by legal counsel, entered a guilty plea, reportedly in an attempt to expedite court proceedings.
Detective Police Constable (DPC) Braima Kargbo is prosecuting the case on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Following Jalloh’s guilty plea, Magistrate Jah denied him bail and ordered his remand at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre in Freetown, where he will await the court's final decision.
The court has adjourned the case to September 8, 2025, for the highly anticipated ruling.
