Blyden Denies APC Meeting with 2028 Flagbearer Aspirants

Former Minister of Social Welfare and prominent All People’s Congress (APC) figure, Sylvia Blyden, has refuted recent social media reports suggesting that the APC leadership held a meeting with prospective 2028 flagbearer aspirants. In a statement posted on social media, Dr. Blyden emphatically dismissed the claims as unfounded and cautioned supporters against misinformation.

The circulating reports named several high-profile APC members, including Mohamed Omodu Kamara (Jagaban), former Minister Richard Konteh, lawyer Ady Macauley, Freetown Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, and former Vice President Samuel Sam-Sumana, as attendees of a meeting focused on internal cohesion in preparation for the 2028 presidential elections.

Dr. Blyden, who was reportedly absent from the alleged gathering, clarified that the APC has not officially opened the application process for any elective positions, including the slot for the 2028 presidential flagbearer. She stressed, "We do not have any recognised Flagbearer Aspirants yet. Not even one."

Her public statement highlights the ongoing internal speculation and lack of official clarity within the APC regarding its preparations for the next general elections. Dr. Blyden reiterated that no official meeting with flagbearer aspirants has occurred and that the party has yet to open applications for any elective positions.

The APC leadership has not yet issued an official response to the controversy.
