Chernor Bah Projecting Further Fuel Price Reductions Contingent on Global Platts Trends

The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, has indicated that fuel prices within Sierra Leone are expected to decline further, provided that global Platts prices maintain their current downward trajectory.

During an appearance on AYV, Minister Bah explained that international market volatility significantly influences local fuel costs. He emphasized that the government remains committed to a pricing structure that transparently reflects both external market conditions and domestic economic factors.

"To the extent that global Platts prices continue to diminish, these reductions will be reflected in the Sierra Leonean market," he stated.

The Minister further noted the government's proven track record of responsive price adjustments, highlighting that local costs have been adjusted both upward and downward in alignment with market shifts.

"Pricing has demonstrated flexibility, rising and falling in accordance with broader economic indicators," Bah remarked.

He offered assurances that under the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio, petroleum sector regulators will maintain a diligent focus on integrating global market data into local pricing frameworks.

Minister Bah clarified that upon the completion of necessary technical reviews, the pricing structure will be updated to reflect necessary adjustments.

He reaffirmed the administration's strategy of balancing international developments with localized factors to manage the cost of petroleum products effectively.
