Parliament Honors Late Former MP Lucinda Finda Kellie

On Wednesday, Members of Parliament convened at the House of Parliament in Freetown for an official lying-in-state ceremony to honor the late Hon. Lucinda Finda Kellie, former Member of Parliament for Kono District.

The solemn event brought together lawmakers, staff, family, and well-wishers to sign the Book of Condolence and lay wreaths in recognition of her dedicated service to her constituency and the nation.

Deputy Majority Leader 2, Hon. Saa Emerson Lamina, delivered a tribute on behalf of the Government, characterizing Hon. Kellie as an illustrious daughter of Sierra Leone defined by humility and a profound commitment to public service.

He highlighted her compassionate nature and her significant contributions to national development and youth mentorship, noting that her legacy would endure for years to come.

Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Abdul Kargbo, expressed deep shock at her passing, describing her as a selfless individual who was consistently attentive to the welfare of her colleagues and community.

He remarked that her death is a substantial loss for the All People's Congress (APC), the Parliament, and the country.

Hon. Bernadette Wuyatta Songa, President of the Parliamentary Female Caucus, praised Hon. Kellie’s commitment to unity and faith.

She emphasized that the late lawmaker’s example would continue to inspire women to pursue leadership roles in public service.

Representing the family, Kumba Kellie Kaikai remembered her sister as a devoted Christian and loving mother who prioritized her family’s needs above all else.

She described Hon. Kellie as a dependable figure whose generosity and guidance left a lasting impact on many lives.
