Chief Minister Dr David Moinina Sengeh attended the Sierra Leone Premier League match between East End Lions and Waterloo FC at the Trade Centre following an invitation from Waterloo FC forward Musa Kamara, popularly known as Musa Tombo.

Sengeh disclosed the visit in a social media post on Sunday, 25 October 2026, explaining that he had returned several missed calls from Tombo earlier in the week before receiving an invitation to watch him play.

He said he contacted East End Lions Executive Chairman, Ambassador Anthony Junior Navo, who helped coordinate the visit.

Sengeh described Tombo as a humble and caring friend, noting that he knew the footballer personally beyond his public profile.

The match ended in a 1–1 draw, with Sengeh praising the atmosphere at the Trade Centre and the quality of play. He highlighted several players from both teams, including East End Lions midfielder SS, the club’s number 2 and number 23, as well as Waterloo FC’s central defender, who was named Man of the Match.

He also described Tombo as a more experienced and mature player and expressed confidence in the future of Waterloo FC’s Man of the Match.

“The Sierra Leone Premier League continues to deliver for people, communities, and the country,” Sengeh wrote.

Reflecting on the significance of the encounter, he added: “The match ended 1-1, but Sierra Leone won.”

His remarks highlighted the role of domestic football in bringing supporters together and generating public interest beyond the outcome of an individual match.
