Chief Minister Sengeh Leads Delegation to Guinea for SIMANDOU 2040 Launch

Representing His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio and the people of Sierra Leone, Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh led a high-level delegation to Conakry, Guinea, to attend the official launch of SIMANDOU 2040 a major mining and infrastructure project expected to transform the subregion.
The delegation included the Minister of Mines, the Minister of Innovation, the Deputy Minister of Water, and other senior government officials.
The event, hosted by President Mamady Doumbouya, attracted several African and international leaders, including President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, President Brice Oligui Nguema of Gabon, Prime Minister Robert Mambe of Côte d’Ivoire, and the Vice Premier of China, among others.
Chief Minister Sengeh conveyed warm greetings and special commendations from President Bio to both President Doumbouya and Prime Minister Bah. He highlighted the strong social and cultural bonds between Sierra Leone and Guinea, emphasizing that the two nations share deep-rooted commonalities and enduring ties.
Over the following two days, the Sierra Leonean delegation was scheduled to participate in strategic meetings and bilateral discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation and advancing shared development priorities. Chief Minister Sengeh was also expected to take part in the Leaders Summit at the seventh edition of the Transform Africa Summit, which focuses on innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable development, also hosted in Conakry.
During the visit, the delegation was warmly received by Ambassador Yumkella, Deputy Ambassador Sawaneh, Head of Chancery McCarthy, and the team at the Sierra Leone Embassy. They also engaged with leaders of the Sierra Leonean community in Guinea, including representatives of the Sierra Leone Nationals Union, SLPP, APC, teachers, and fishermen.
Chief Minister Sengeh reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the national development plan and reiterated that, under President Bio’s leadership, regional cooperation and inclusive growth remain central to Sierra Leone’s development strategy.
