SLRSA Hits Back at Lawyer Yada Williams’ Bribery Claims

The Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) has denied claims that a Road Safety Corps officer solicited a bribe from Lawyer Yada Hashim Williams’ driver during a traffic stop in Freetown.

In a statement issued on November 11, 2025, the Authority described the allegations as unsubstantiated and misleading, noting that an internal review found no evidence to support Mr. Williams’ claims. The SLRSA has urged him to withdraw his social media post.

The traffic stop took place on Monday, November 3, along Wilkinson Road near Cockrill, after Mr. Williams’ driver was found operating an unregistered vehicle, an offense under Section 3(1) of the Road Traffic Act, 2007. The Authority confirmed that a fine was issued, paid, and proof of payment provided to Mr. Williams.

Following the social media allegation, the SLRSA reached out to Mr. Williams and requested evidence to substantiate the bribery claim. No evidence has been presented to date.

Reiterating its commitment to integrity, the Authority emphasized its zero-tolerance policy on corruption. The statement read, “Unverified claims made in the public domain have the potential to undermine public trust and damage the reputation of the institution and its hardworking officers.”

The SLRSA urged Mr. Williams to retract his post and refrain from making further unverified claims, reaffirming its dedication to transparency, lawful enforcement, and road safety for all citizens of Sierra Leone.
