Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, representing President Julius Maada Bio, has launched the UniPod Innovation Hub at Fourah Bay College (FBC), University of Sierra Leone, to support young innovators and promote entrepreneurship.

The facility is designed to provide students and aspiring entrepreneurs with access to modern technology, mentorship, networking opportunities, and business development support to transform ideas into sustainable ventures.

The initiative is being implemented through a partnership involving the Government of Sierra Leone, FBC, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Africell, Samsung, and other stakeholders focused on advancing innovation and digital transformation.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Sengeh reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering young people through education, technology, and innovation, describing them as key drivers of economic growth and national development.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration between government, universities, development partners, and the private sector in creating opportunities for young people to develop solutions to local challenges.

The FBC UniPod is part of a wider network of 23 UniPods established across 13 countries to promote creativity, research, and entrepreneurship among young people.

The launch brought together government officials, development partners, university leaders, students, and entrepreneurs, with stakeholders expressing optimism that the hub will help nurture startups and strengthen Sierra Leone’s innovation ecosystem.
