Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, arrived in Dakar on Monday, June 29, 2026, for a diplomatic visit ahead of his scheduled appearance at the 2026 Yidan Prize Conference.
Dr. Sengeh is set to deliver the summit's keynote address today, Tuesday, June 30. His presentation, titled "Unleashing Africa’s potential: The role of education in a new era of development," is highly anticipated by conference attendees.
To bridge the gap between international policy and local governance, Dr. Sengeh’s delegation includes Fatu Bockarie of the Kenema City Council and Ibrahim Gbla from Freetown.
During a meeting at the Sierra Leone Embassy, Ambassador Ibrahim Turay updated the delegation on recent diplomatic milestones, including advancements in economic diplomacy and the digitization of consular services.
Ambassador Turay also pointed to the annual Senegal Trade Fair, held each December, as a key strategic opportunity for Sierra Leone to increase exports of goods like palm oil into the Senegalese market.
Dr. Sengeh praised these initiatives and held discussions regarding the optimization of bilateral trade and mining agreements between the two nations.
Furthermore, while touring the consular section, the Chief Minister met with Scott Parker, Vice President of the Sierra Leone National Union in Senegal.
Dr. Sengeh commended the collaborative relationship between the embassy and the local diaspora, describing it as a model of harmony for other foreign missions.
