A member of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Communication Team, Hon. Abdul Muniru Lansana, has challenged international reports claiming that alleged Dutch fugitive Jos Leijdekkers is in Sierra Leone, insisting there is no verified evidence to support the claims.
Speaking on AYV Television, Lansana said there is no proof that the individual is in the country, adding that the burden of evidence rests on those making the allegation.
“Until it is proven, we do not know him, and he is not here to respond,” he said.
He further argued that if anyone believes the person is in Sierra Leone, it is their responsibility to locate him, describing the country as relatively small and easy to search.
“If you know that man is here, then it’s up to you to find him. Sierra Leone is a small country,” he added.
Lansana also referenced police records, stating that there is no official identification of any person named Jos Leijdekkers in Sierra Leone, but rather a different name he identified as Umar Sheriff.
He dismissed the international reports as unverified claims.
“It’s still presumptions, and it can be rebutted. Until then, we maintain the position that Jos is not here,” he said.
He added that international authorities investigating the matter should be allowed to conduct proper verification if necessary.
“The very people who are looking for this man had all the measures and security when Jos was with them, but he escaped. So who are we in Sierra Leone as a small country?” he questioned.
The remarks come amid ongoing international speculation regarding the whereabouts of Jos Leijdekkers, with no official confirmation from Sierra Leonean authorities confirming his presence in the country.
