Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has issued a strong public critique of the APC parliamentary leadership regarding their conduct during the confirmation process for Mr. Edmond Sylvester Alpha as the Chief Electoral Commissioner (CEC) of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL).
Dr. Sengeh characterized the leadership's actions as an "absolute disgrace" while simultaneously commending two APC Members of Parliament for upholding constitutional integrity.
The criticism follows a parliamentary session focused on the debate and ratification of Mr. Alpha's appointment. Reports indicate that several APC parliamentarians did not attend or participate in the sitting. In contrast, the two MPs praised by Dr. Sengeh were present and adhered to established constitutional and parliamentary protocols.
In his public statement, Dr. Sengeh remarked: "The leadership of APC Parliamentarians are an absolute disgrace. Great respect to the 2 APC MPs for respecting our Constitution!"
The Chief Minister's comments contribute to the ongoing political discourse surrounding Mr. Alpha's confirmation and the expected standard of parliamentary conduct during critical national appointments.
