COMAHS Outlines Entry Requirements for Medical and Nursing Courses

The College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS) has outlined admission requirements for its medicine, pharmacy and nursing programmes, specifying the required WASSCE grades, subject combinations and alternative entry routes.
For the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), applicants seeking admission through the premedical route must obtain five WASSCE credits at C5 or better in English Language, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics or Further Mathematics, and Physics, in no more than two sittings or an equivalent qualification. Candidates with an aggregate of 10 or below qualify for Premed 2, while those with an aggregate of 15 or below qualify for Premed 1. Applicants with GCE AS-Level grades of A to C in any two of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics may also enter Premed 1, with French considered an advantage.
Direct entry into Year One of the MBChB programme is available to candidates with GCE A-Level grades of A to C in any two of the specified science subjects. Graduates with at least a Division Two bachelor’s degree in the sciences from a recognised university may also apply, provided they have five WASSCE credits or equivalent qualifications. All applicants are subject to a successful interview.
For the Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours, admission into Pre-Pharmacy requires C5 or better in English Language, Mathematics or Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with an aggregate of 18 or below in no more than two sittings, or equivalent qualifications. Entry into Year One requires successful completion of Pre-Pharmacy. Applicants with a science degree at Second Class Lower (2.2) or a Diploma in Pharmacy may also qualify, provided they meet the five-subject WASSCE requirements.
For the Diploma in Pharmacy, applicants must obtain at least C6 in English Language, Mathematics or Further Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry, or equivalent qualifications, in no more than two sittings.
The BSc (Hons) Nursing programme offers several entry routes. Applicants with a science degree at Second Class Lower (2.2) may also qualify for the pre-degree route.
