Ezekiel Macauley, a 31-year-old contractor, appeared before Magistrate Adama Kandeh at Pademba Road Court No.4 on Thursday, November 13, 2025, facing charges of fraudulent conversion. The purpose of the court session was to hear a ruling following the defendant's initial appearance.
Macauley is charged under Section 20 (1) (IV) (b) of the Larceny Act of 1916. The prosecution alleges that between September 1 and September 30, 2025, at Casava Farm in Leicester Village, Freetown, he fraudulently converted property entrusted to him for his own use.
The property in question includes a mixer valued at Leones 4,500, a slave amplifier valued at Leones 6,000, and assorted speaker cables valued at Leones 400, for a total value of Leones 10,900. These items were reportedly entrusted to him by Yusuf Turay for delivery to Fatmata Kajua.
Macauley did not enter a plea, as the matter is proceeding via preliminary investigation.
The prosecution, led by Sergeant 1306 Sesay A.B., served the defendant with his statement and other relevant court documents. Macauley was unrepresented by legal counsel during the proceedings.
When offered the opportunity to cross-examine the complainant and witness, the defendant stated that he had reviewed the statements and had no questions for them.
Subsequently, Magistrate Kandeh reserved the case for a ruling and ordered Macauley to be remanded at the Freetown Male Correctional Centre.
The case has been adjourned to November 21, 2025, for the ruling.
