ree

Despite its failure to meet over half of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) performance indicators, Sierra Leone has achieved an exceptional score of 71 percent for Fiscal Year 2025 in the MCC Control of Corruption Indicator. This achievement marks the seventh consecutive year the nation has maintained an excellent score above 70 percent in its anti-corruption efforts.

MCC data indicates that Sierra Leone recorded a score of 0.41, significantly surpassing the median of 0.00, which reflects consistent advancements in curbing corruption across public institutions. The indicator serves as a measure of the effectiveness of governance, transparency, and accountability in the management of public resources.

Francis Ben Kaifala, head of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), commented on this sustained success, stating that the country has been “winning like never before” over the past seven years, and he reaffirmed the commitment to continue the fight against corruption.

He referenced President Julius Maada Bio’s message: “this is a fight we must win.”

The ACC emphasized its commitment to maintaining the country’s strong performance and continuing its efforts to combat corruption.

Sierra Leone’s continued success in the MCC Control of Corruption Indicator positions it among the top-performing countries in the region, signifying enhanced public confidence in governance and robust accountability frameworks.
