A delegation from the Producers and Music Engineers of Sierra Leone (PMESL), led by President Moses K. Baimba, recently convened with the Honorable Chernor Bah, Minister of Information, to address critical copyright disputes currently impacting the domestic music industry.

During the briefing, PMESL outlined their investigative findings and proposed a framework for amicable resolution. The association emphasized the urgent need to address systemic weaknesses in copyright enforcement, advocating for enhanced legal structures, professional development workshops, and standardized studio protocols to safeguard intellectual property.

Minister Bah commended the association's proactive commitment to industry standards and reaffirmed the government's dedication to modernizing the sector. "We are fully committed to refining the legal landscape and strengthening enforcement mechanisms," the Minister stated, highlighting the integration of technological solutions to better protect creative rights and streamline dispute resolution.

The Ministry is currently spearheading a transformative committee tasked with comprehensive intellectual property law reform. This initiative underscores a strategic governmental commitment to providing robust legal protections for Sierra Leonean creatives, ensuring a sustainable environment for artistic and economic growth.
