Couple Faces Court Over Alleged Assault

A couple accused of assaulting two individuals appeared before the Pademba Road Magistrate Court, where a police investigator presented separate caution statements as evidence.
Alie Sulaiman Kamara, 50, and Yallie Kamara, 52, face two counts of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm (AOABH) under Section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861. The charges stem from an alleged incident involving Alpha Bangura and Alie Bangura on January 28, 2026, at Fostan Drive, Smart Farm, within the Freetown Judicial District.
Testifying as Prosecution Witness No. 2 (PW2), DPC 12177 Julius Fumaru of the Criminal Investigations Department at Congo Cross Police Station stated that the case was assigned to him on May 22, 2026. Two days later, he and DPC 15179 Kellun PV invited the accused to the station to obtain their caution statements.
According to Fumaru, the statements were recorded in English after being explained in Krio, and both defendants confirmed their accuracy by affixing their right thumbprints, witnessed by DPC Kellun and recorded by Fumaru.
The statements were formally admitted into evidence as Exhibits C1–C3 and D1–D3. Fumaru and DPC Kellun formally charged the couple on June 18, 2026.
The matter is being presided over by Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 2 and has been adjourned to October 12, 2026, for the continuation of PW2’s testimony and further proceedings.
