The National Revenue Authority (NRA) on Monday, 5th October 2026, commenced a two-day consultation session in Jendema, Sorogbema Chiefdom, Pujehun District, as preparations intensify for the rollout of the ASYCUDA World digital customs system at the border crossing point.

The stakeholder engagement brings together security agencies and local leaders to discuss operational processes, introduce the web-based platform, and ensure full readiness. Designed to modernise border operations, ASYCUDA World automates import, export, and transit regimes—making trade clearance faster, more transparent, and efficient while strengthening revenue collection and generating valuable national trade data.

Delivering a technical briefing, Philip Dumbuya, Supervisor at the ASYCUDA Unit, noted that the platform connects multiple government agencies through automated routing, enables self-assessment for traders, uses risk-based consignment inspection, and maintains audit trails for up to 15 years. The Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) is also supporting the integration of key security features.

NRA Customs Manager at Jendema, Munjiru I. I. Kallon, highlighted recent operational progress, including strong local collaboration, the recruitment of six community members, and the deployment of the post's first female staff member, Mrs. Kumba S. Kallon. Senior NRA management has also provided a new vehicle and office facility, with plans underway to introduce commercial banks at the border to enhance payment handling and accountability.

As the two-day session concludes, stakeholders emphasize that successful implementation will require essential infrastructure, such as scanners and printers, alongside comprehensive training for border personnel to fully secure and streamline cross-border trade.
