Court Grants Bail to Kekeh Rider and Painter in Wounding with Intent Case

Twenty-year-old Hassan Bangura, a kekeh rider, and twenty-two-year-old Joseph Sahr Musa, a painter, have been granted bail by Magistrate Medisah Massaquoi of Pademba Road Court No. 6 in connection with charges of alleged wounding with intent.


The accused appeared before the court on four counts: conspiracy to commit a felony, wounding with intent, malicious wounding, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.


According to the particulars of the offence, on Sunday, 28 December 2025, at No. 2 River Beach in Goderich, Western Area, the defendants allegedly conspired with others to commit a felony by wounding with intent. It is further alleged that they wounded one Abubakarr Sesay with the intent to cause him grievous bodily harm. The charges also include malicious wounding and assault resulting in actual bodily harm.



During the proceedings, Prosecutor M. K. Johnson Esq. applied for a short adjournment to enable the prosecution to adequately prepare for the next hearing.


Counsel for the defendants, A. Sesay Esq., subsequently applied for bail under Section 76(c) of the Criminal Procedure Act, 2024, which was granted by the court.


Magistrate Massaquoi admitted both accused persons to bail in the sum of twenty thousand leones each, with two sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to be residents of Freetown and must provide valid identification and proof of residence.


The bail is subject to approval and verification by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.


The matter has been adjourned to 30 January 2026 for further hearing.
