A magistrate court in Freetown has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of two defendants, Fanta Sesay, a 21-year-old petty trader, and Mummy Sesay, a stone miner, after they failed to appear for their scheduled court hearing.
The warrant was issued by Magistrate Medisa Massaquio of Pademba Road Court No. 6 when the matter was called and both accused persons were absent.
According to court documents, the defendants are facing two counts: wounding, contrary to Section 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47 of the same Act.
Prosecutors allege that the incident occurred on April 7, 2026, at Upper Leicester Peak in the Mountain Rural District of Freetown, where the accused persons allegedly maliciously wounded Hassan Kanu.
It is further alleged that, at the same time and location, they assaulted Kanu in a manner that resulted in actual bodily harm.
During the proceedings, the prosecutor, Detective Police Constable F. Robert (No. 19447), applied for a bench warrant for the arrest of the defendants and their sureties.
Magistrate Massaquio granted the application, authorising the police to apprehend the accused persons.
The matter has been adjourned to April 30, 2026, for further proceedings.
