Mohamed Condeh, a 24-year-old driver, has been formally committed to the High Court and remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown following an alleged murder charge.
The committal order was issued by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1.
Condeh faces a charge of murder pursuant to Section 1 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, as amended by the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2021 (Act No. 6 of 2022). The particulars of the offence allege that the incident occurred on Sunday, 4th January 2026, at Chief Compound off Wilkinson Road in Freetown’s Western Area, resulting in the death of Gbrilla Sankoh.
During the preliminary investigation before the Magistrate Court, no plea was taken from the defendant. The prosecution, led by Inspector Mabel M. Trawallie Esq., presented its witnesses and subsequently closed its case for a ruling.
Magistrate Jah ultimately ruled that the prosecution had satisfied the court by providing sufficient evidence to warrant the committal.
The case was therefore ordered to proceed to the High Court for trial. Mr. Condeh remains in custody at the Male Correctional Facility pending further legal proceedings.
