On April 20, 2026, the Health For All Coalition (HFAC-SL) hosted a pivotal meeting with Mr. Norihto Yonebayashi, Resident Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Sierra Leone, to discuss strengthening collaboration in health development. Executive Director Mr. Charles Mambu presented an overview of HFAC-SL's operational capacity and impact.

Established in 2007, HFAC-SL champions accessible, quality healthcare and maintains a significant nationwide footprint across all 16 districts, supported by 5 regional supervisors and 191 chiefdom focal persons. This extensive infrastructure facilitates essential independent monitoring, community engagement, and advocacy, complementing the objectives of the Ministry of Health.

Mr. Mambu underscored HFAC-SL’s proven credibility, noting its status as a top-rated partner for UN agencies like UNFPA and its 2022 designation as the best CSO in promoting health and wellbeing by the Ministry of Health. He also confirmed the organization's full compliance with national regulations and active registration with MoPED and SLANGO.

The central focus of the discussion was establishing a robust, sustainable partnership to popularize and monitor JICA’s strategic investments in the country. Mr. Yonebayashi commended HFAC-SL’s substantial contributions to high-level health policy discussions and reaffirmed Japan's unwavering commitment as a reliable development partner to Sierra Leone.

Both organizations concluded the visit by resolving to maintain frequent engagement and defining specific areas for collaboration to further enhance the relationship between Sierra Leone and Japan.
