SLFA Concludes WAFU A Competition Management Workshop in Freetown

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), in collaboration with the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone A, successfully concluded a three-day Competition Management Workshop hosted in Freetown.
The capacity-building initiative convened 16 participants representing nine WAFU member countries, including Sierra Leone. Sessions focused on critical areas such as match organization, match supervision, and match reporting. The program's objective was to enhance competition standards and optimize football administration throughout the region.
Speaking at the certification ceremony conducted at Hotel Bamoi, SLFA President Babadi Kamara characterized the workshop as a profound affirmation of Sierra Leone’s leadership role within West African football. He subsequently extended appreciation to WAFU-A and the Government of Sierra Leone for their continued support.
President Kamara further underscored the rising competitive nature of contemporary football, stressing the importance of continuous learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among member associations. He also highlighted the inherent cultural and historical ties within the WAFU zone, characterizing the region as a unified family.
On his part, WAFU-A President Lamin Kabba Bajo conveyed thanks to the Government of Sierra Leone and the SLFA for efficiently hosting the workshop. He extended greetings to the Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James-Teima, and reaffirmed WAFU-A’s unwavering commitment to supporting member associations in capacity building.
President Bajo emphasized that the competitions department holds a critical function within every football association, stressing that continuous professional training is essential to keeping pace with the evolving demands of the game.
The workshop concluded with the formal presentation of certificates to participants, followed by group photography to commemorate the successful completion of the training.
