CSL Advances Governance and Capacity Building for Sustainable Cricket Growth

Cricket Sierra Leone (CSL) has reached a significant milestone in its institutional development by participating in a comprehensive one-day financial governance seminar. This initiative was organized by the National Olympic Committee specifically for National Sporting Organizations (NSOs) to foster professional growth within the sector.

The curriculum focused on critical facets of financial management, including fund disbursement protocols, rigorous record-keeping, robust internal control systems, and eligibility compliance. Such initiatives are designed to bolster transparency, accountability, and the adoption of best financial practices among the nation's sporting governing bodies.

Under the strategic guidance of Chairman Francis Trevor Samura, the CSL Board remains dedicated to prioritizing professional education and capacity building. This focus is particularly directed toward its emerging workforce to ensure the sustainable advancement of cricket throughout Sierra Leone.

In addition to governance, CSL has demonstrated a strong commitment to human resource development. Over the last four years, 1,025 professionals have completed high-performance and development programs. Notable achievements include 54 coaches earning ICC Level 1 certification and 28 successfully attaining ICC Level 2 status.

Furthermore, the organization has successfully upskilled 267 Criiio facilitators and more than 100 umpires, significantly expanding the technical expertise required to support the sport at a national level.

Strategically, CSL is working toward training 1,000 Physical and Health Education (PHE) teachers to implement foundational cricket programs. This objective aligns with the ICC Legacy Programme for Africa, which aims to train 21,000 educators across the continent by 2027 in preparation for Africa's hosting of the ICC T20 Men’s Cricket World Cup.

These comprehensive efforts highlight Cricket Sierra Leone’s unwavering commitment to establishing a resilient foundation for the sport through governance, education, and grassroots engagement.
