In a recent hearing, the cyberstalking and cyberbullying case against Marwan Malador was temporarily adjourned, as the prosecution requested additional time to present crucial evidence.
The proceedings took place before the magistrate, with the defendant represented by legal counsel. Malador stands accused of circulating defamatory content on social media platforms, including Facebook and YouTube. The allegations stem from claims made by Brigadier General Albert Sylvester Bockarie, who testified that Malador published a video containing damaging statements about the complainant, Mr. Ramking Jacob Smith, and others, accusing them of conspiring to scam him of US$50,000 and obtaining seven U.S. passports through deception.
The witness, a military officer attached to the defense headquarters, explained that the defamatory content caused him emotional distress and physical imbalance. He reported that he was able to identify the video on a flash drive he saved after removing it from social media. The police were contacted, and the flash drive was handed over as evidence.
The prosecution requested an adjournment to allow the information technology (IT) department of the judiciary to display the video for identification purposes. Meanwhile, the defense, citing Section 79(2) of the Criminal Procedure Act, applied for the accused to be granted bail, which was approved.
Malador was released on bail of Le50,000, with sureties, and the court noted that he has not attempted to evade the law since his release.
The case has been scheduled to resume on September 2, 2025, when the prosecution expects to present the video evidence for further proceedings.
