The National Communications Authority (NatCA) has assured the public that it is closely monitoring ongoing cybersecurity incidents affecting digital services in Sierra Leone and is working with government institutions, law enforcement agencies, licensed operators and other stakeholders to coordinate a response.
In a public notice issued on 30 July 2026, NatCA reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the security, resilience and integrity of the country's digital communications infrastructure.
The Authority urged communications service providers and digital platforms to strengthen cybersecurity measures, promptly report incidents and comply with established security standards.
NatCA also encouraged the public to remain vigilant by avoiding suspicious links and messages, protecting personal information and enabling multi-factor authentication where available, stressing that "cybersecurity is a shared responsibility."
The Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation echoed the call for collective action, urging citizens and businesses to adopt safer online practices, including protecting login credentials, verifying information before clicking links and reporting suspicious activities.
The Authority noted that cyber incidents can be reported through the National CyberSecurity Coordination Centre (NC3) and NatCA's official platforms, adding that it will continue working with stakeholders to strengthen Sierra Leone's cyber resilience while providing updates as the situation develops.
