SLP Moves Police Clearance Certificate Applications Online

The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) announced that applications for Police Clearance Certificates are now being processed entirely online through the WanGov digital platform, which they described as a significant step in the Government of Sierra Leone's digital transformation of public services.

In a public notice issued on Thursday, 30 July 2026, the police explained that the new system had been designed to improve efficiency, accessibility, transparency, and convenience for members of the public applying for the certificates.

They noted that under the new arrangement, applicants can complete and submit their applications from any location with internet access via the WanGov platform, which eliminates the need to visit the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters to apply in person.

The notice further stated that the initiative formed part of the Government of Sierra Leone's ongoing commitment to digitizing public services and enhancing efficiency, accessibility, transparency, and convenience in service delivery.

The Sierra Leone Police also assured the public that support services remain available at designated centres for those who may not have internet access or who require additional assistance.

Applicants can receive assistance from trained WanGov Partnership Associates at the Central Police Station in Freetown, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters in Freetown, and the WanGov Service Booth at the General Post Office on Siaka Stevens Street.

They encouraged members of the public to take advantage of the new online platform, describing it as a faster, more secure, and more convenient way to apply for Police Clearance Certificates, concluded by reiterating that the public should utilize the WanGov platform to experience a more secure and efficient application process.

The initiative forms part of the Sierra Leone Police's continued efforts to improve service delivery through digital technology, making Police Clearance Certificate applications more accessible and convenient for the public.
