Deputy Ambassador to Guinea, Fatmata Sawaneh, has alleged that certain ministers within President Julius Maada Bio's government harbor sympathies for the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party.
During an appearance on Liberty TV, Sawaneh asserted that several appointments made by President Bio have resulted in individuals who, despite their official roles within the Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) administration, are pro-APC and may prioritize actions that serve APC interests. She specified that her comments are based on observed dynamics and widespread reports rather than formal party affiliation records, and consequently, she declined to name any of the implicated ministers.
Sawaneh framed this situation as indicative of a broader political environment where cross-party influence can infiltrate governmental bodies. She suggested that while these ministers are formally serving the SLPP, their loyalties or inclinations align more closely with the APC platform.
This statement from the Deputy Ambassador underscores ongoing political discourse concerning the challenges of maintaining cohesive governance and ensuring loyalty among appointees, a factor often considered crucial for effective policy implementation in a multiparty setting.
Sawaneh’s remarks have generated significant public interest and debate, raising questions about political allegiances and administrative cohesion within the current SLPP government.
