Diaspora Muslims in UK Laud Bio, Juldeh for Expanding Hajj Access

Hundreds of Sierra Leonean Muslims living in the United Kingdom and across Europe have praised President Julius Maada Bio and Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh for enabling diaspora citizens to perform the Hajj pilgrimage under Sierra Leone’s official quota for the second consecutive year.

The commendation came during a welcome reception organized by Yaadu Travel Services in London for pilgrims who recently returned from Saudi Arabia after completing Hajj.

Addressing the gathering, Vice President Juldeh Jalloh said reforms introduced since 2018 under the Presidential Hajj Taskforce have improved transparency, accountability, and efficiency in Sierra Leone’s Hajj management, while expanding opportunities for citizens in the diaspora.

He described the inclusion of diaspora pilgrims under the government quota as a major milestone and assured attendees that the government remains committed to improving Hajj services in the future.

The Minister of Social Welfare, Alhaji Mohamed Haji Kella, credited the programme’s success to the leadership of President Bio and Vice President Juldeh Jalloh, saying the reforms have strengthened Sierra Leone’s reputation in Hajj administration across West Africa.

Also speaking at the event, Yaadu Travel Services CEO, Alhaji Mohammed Saadu Jalloh, revealed that about 500 pilgrims from the UK and other European countries performed Hajj under the scheme this year, noting that the increasing number reflects growing trust in the programme.

The event ended with special prayers for Sierra Leone’s peace, unity, and development, as well as for the continued success of the Hajj initiative.
