Kailahun Unrest: Union Chairman Hospitalized After Sustaining Head Injury

Civil unrest has gripped Kailahun following the death of a commercial motorbike rider which has subsequently led to the assault of the district chairman for the local Bike Riders Union, Saidu Dabor Jnr.

The volatility began in the Gbayawalu section of Kailahun Town, where a registered member of the Sierra Leone Commercial Motorbike Riders Union (SLCMBRU) was killed.

Reports surrounding the death remain contradictory; while some accounts allege police involvement, others attribute the killing to a mob following accusations of theft and drug possession.

In the wake of these events, commercial motorbike riders launched a strike, and reports indicate that the local police station was set on fire by an unidentified mob as tensions continued to rise.

Seeking to address the situation, Mr. Dabor reportedly arrived at the Kailahun police station to inquire about the investigation.

Witnesses allege that he was subsequently attacked by armed officers upon his arrival, sustaining a severe head injury that necessitated his immediate admittance at the hospital.
