Dr. Martin Salia Family Foundation (DMSFF) Academy, located at Kamajor Camp, Njaluahun Chiefdom, Kailahun District, made history this week by successfully hosting its first-ever inter-house sports meet, a two-day event designed to promote physical education and enhance students’ psychomotor skills. The meet was held at the KLDEC School Field in Daru Town, Jawie Chiefdom.
The historic event kicked off on Friday, 27 March 2026, with a vibrant match pass from the school compound to the sports arena, led by pupils, staff, parents, and the school proprietor, Pastor Samuel Salia. A mounted musical amplifier played the school anthem, composed by staff member Sahr Daniel Ellie, energizing the participants and drawing attention from bystanders and spectators.
Approximately 200 pupils competed across four houses: Asahel House (Yellow), Daniel House (Green), David House (Blue), and Samson’s House (Red). The athletic meet, conducted under the guidance of the Games and Sports Teachers’ Association (GATA), Daru Branch, featured a range of events designed to test speed, strength, agility, and teamwork.
Distinguished guests, including representatives from the Sierra Leone Police, educational authorities, local officials, and both community-based and non-governmental organizations, attended to witness the historic occasion. Spectators described the competition as highly competitive and impressive, particularly for a school only three years into its academic journey.
After two days of closely contested events, the final points were announced during the school assembly on Monday, 30 March 2026, with the houses ranking as follows:
House (Yellow) – 447 points, 1st place
Daniel House (Green) – 384 points, 2nd place
David House (Blue) – 383 points, 3rd place
Samson’s House (Red) – 364 points, 4th place
The festivities culminated with a trophy handover at the school compound, followed by a celebratory parade through the main streets of Daru and surrounding villages, demonstrating sportsmanship, unity, and camaraderie among the pupils.
The successful maiden inter-house sports meet marks a milestone for DMSFF Academy, reinforcing its commitment to holistic education and providing a strong foundation for school sports culture in Kailahun District.
