Michael Collins Ajereh, the esteemed Nigerian producer and founder of Mavin Records, made his inaugural visit to Sierra Leone on May 12, 2026. Known professionally as Don Jazzy, the music executive commemorated the milestone on Instagram, sharing his high spirits upon arrival in the capital city of Freetown.
Despite his extensive career and travel across the continent, this marks his debut trip to the nation. Don Jazzy acknowledged the notable absence of his prominent Mavin roster with affinity to Sierra Leone, specifically mentioning Rema, Johnny Drille, and Di’Ja.
The mention of Di’Ja (Hadiza Blell) holds particular significance for local audiences, given her Sierra Leonean heritage, which made her non-attendance a missed opportunity for a sentimental connection.
The producer's arrival coincided with the presence of fellow artists Shalipopo and Tiwa Savage, as they were scheduled to attend President Julius Maada Bio's birthday dinner following a leadership colloquium held at Bintumani.
As a key figure responsible for driving Afrobeats' global success, Don Jazzy's presence has immediately fueled industry speculation regarding potential collaborations with Sierra Leonean musicians.
For the time being, the mogul is focused on experiencing the local culture, a visit that many anticipate will influence future musical endeavors, though some rumors suggest he has already exited the country.
