The Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairman of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL), Mr. Edmond Alpha, recently convened with the Sierra Leone Bar Association. This engagement is a pivotal component of ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing electoral governance and restoring public trust in the nation’s democratic institutions.


During a formal visit to the President of the Bar Association, Madam Tuma Adama Gento-Kamara, the primary focus of the dialogue was the fortification of collaborative efforts among key stakeholders dedicated to electoral reform.


Mr. Alpha underscored the necessity of sustained inter-institutional cooperation, asserting that robust partnerships with civil society, political organizations, and professional bodies are fundamental to re-establishing the integrity of the electoral system.


He further emphasized the critical role of the Bar Association in advocating for reform and upholding accountability within Sierra Leone’s democratic architecture.


In response, Madam Gento-Kamara reaffirmed the Association’s dedicated commitment to supporting the ECSL in its mission to deliver credible and transparent electoral outcomes.


She noted that the Bar Association remains prepared to assist in initiatives designed to bolster the transparency, accountability, and public perception of the electoral process.


This engagement aligns with the ECSL’s comprehensive strategy to foster inclusive partnerships that catalyze substantive reform and reinforce the foundations of democratic governance across the country.
