ECSL, PPRC Participate in Global Election Bodies Assembly in Philippines
Sierra Leone’s Electoral Commission (ECSL) and Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) are participating in the 7th General Assembly of the Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB) in Manila, Philippines, where election management bodies are discussing election administration, cooperation and electoral integrity.
Held from October 12 to 17, 2026, the assembly brings together election management bodies from around the world to exchange experiences and explore ways to strengthen electoral practices and democratic governance.
Sierra Leone’s delegation comprises Emmanuel Koivaya Amara, Chairman of the PPRC; Alex Pat-Labib Saffa, ECSL Electoral Commissioner for the Eastern Region; and Olushogo Abraham David, Executive Secretary of the PPRC.
The programme includes meetings of the A-WEB Executive Board and General Assembly, with discussions focusing on institutional governance, knowledge-sharing, strategic partnerships and capacity development among election management bodies.
Participants are also discussing information integrity, including ways to improve media engagement and public outreach to counter malinformation and strengthen public confidence in electoral processes.
A-WEB has 120 member election management bodies from 111 countries, providing a platform for sharing knowledge and addressing common challenges in election administration.
The assembly is organised by the A-WEB Secretariat in collaboration with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) of the Philippines.
